Create a Move Plan

Icon_tip_2

You’re starting a new adventure in unknown territory—so, creating a move plan is a great way to dive in with an open attitude. Use it as a compass as you head in a different direction and move to this new city.

In your journal, write down everything you need to do to make your move happen. Include chronological goals and action items, such as researching your new city, transferring vital records (school and health), finding a new apartment or home, stopping and starting all utilities, finding storage facilities & movers, the packing schedule, plans for saying goodbyes and more.

Figure out iif you will hire someone to help with the moving process or not. If you are physically going to move you and your stuff to a new city, make sure you have the proper transportation and plenty of packing supplies. If you are going to get professional movers, start calling around for quotes at least four to six weeks ahead of time.

Make sure to provide an inventory to your movers of all the contents they will be hauling. It will help you keep track of your items when you have finally finished moving to your new city!
