Question:Rents in New York City?

How much can I expect to pay for a one bedroom apartment in NYC?

Answer:

I suggest trying the Brooklyn. I just moved here, its a really nurturing and grounding space. And the rent is much cheaper (and the apartment's are bigger) than in the city.

Answer:

The answer to your question can vary based on the size of apartment and neighborhood in the city. I've heard of very rare instances where people were able to score apartments for less than 1000/month, but I think that's more like to be the exception than the rule.
Check out craigslist or the village voice classifieds to get an idea of the range.
Good luck!
