Money is always great and very helpful...but if that isn't what you were planning on, there are other options. I'd steer clear of "Class of ____" merchandise in general because after a while, it will get old and not really be useful. Gift cards for places where work clothes can be purchased or a nice piece of jewelry can be used for years...or if the grad is getting a new apartment or moving out, try something for the home!
Are you allergic to ALL dogs, or just the shedding? If that's the case (like it is with me) there are several breeds of dog that don't shed. My dogs, White West Highland Terriers are good... Cairn Terriers and poodles actually don't have fur, they have hair like humans, eliminating the shedding problem as well. There are actually hypoallergenic pets if you look for them!
If it's all dogs and cats that you are allergic to, what about a bird? I used to have one and he spoke in sentences and called me from down the hall! :o)
I wish I could, but I definitely would need money that I don't have to travel. Plus, I'm nervous that my competitive field will not become any easier to get into--and I need to stay up-to-date with everything that is going on for my best chance at success!
I love my iMac because I can relocate it almost as easily as moving a laptop. There are many reasons that I love it...but I've honestly never had a computer that booted up and was ready to use so quickly in my life. No more sitting and waiting several minutes for everything to "settle." Hit the button and go!
Get a planner! You are going to have so many club events, group projects, meetings with advisers and of course, homework. It's easy to become overwhelmed, but having it all organized in one place will make life much easier.
Watching home videos can be a challenge if it's too soon--but if it's the right time, it can ignite something special. Hearing my dad's voice after so long gave me chills (good ones) because it brought me close to him all over again.
While I know it's not always possible, I try to pay them as soon as the bill comes. That way, I know I can't forget.
