I think different kids would have different answers for the first part of your question. For me, as I was a stepchild, I would really have responded well to a warm, loving person who reached out to me and left the discipling to my mom or dad. The best thing a stepparent can do is support his/her spouse without taking over the parent role, which can be tricky, I'm sure. I'd say that becoming a loving advocate for the child who still has boundaries is the best of all worlds. My stepmom is definitely that! She's great!

Let me answer with a resounding, "YES, YES, YES!" I am just that person, being the only female child. That wasn't meant to sounds sexist, but I feel I was more encouraged to share feelings and have deep talks than my brothers were. And yes, I too have paid the gray-hair piper for it, but I also got some tremendous value out of it.

My family made pictures collages of my grandfather for thw viewing when he passed this Christmas. It's been hard, but I think the best thing for me is to look at the video of him with my daughter when she was seven weeks old. It reminds me of how gentle and loving he always was with me, and how no one else could ever make me feel quite so secure.

Yes! I've used their baby laundry detergent and hand soap. Their products actually work really well. I prefer them to Seventh Generation products, though their baby wipes are good.

I've heard that meditation and visualization are supposed to be very helpful to get milk flowing. I also hear that looking at a picture of your baby can do the trick for your letdown reflex. Kudos to you for trying so hard!
