That's really good advice. If you go to any country outside the U.S. you will notice that portion sizes are much smaller. We tend to think that bigger is better in this country, but it's not helping us get or stay healthy.

I'm not a big fan of scales. Except ones in hospitals and then you should see me taking off as much as I can to get an accurate reading. And then, of course, I move those weights back.

I'm more a jeans test person. If I can't close the button I know I'm in trouble.

I love this story!!
First of all, I like the "pumpkin rule" -- it teaches children an interesting lesson about taking as much as you can handle.

What I also really like is that she was able to take lemons and make them into lemonade... I have recipes everywhere. I should probably check out the software so I can organize myself to take advantage of all the great recipes I've clipped over the years.

My dad stopped smoking when he had heart bypass surgery. He quit cold turkey after 30+ years of being a smoker. What he took up instead, was chewing gum. And, boy, did he chew a lot of gum! We used to tease him all the time about the gum truck backing up in the driveway ... inside joke.

I have read that rather than focusing on what you're stopping you should focus on something new that you're starting.

For every "bad for you" think that you quit, start a "good for you" thing to replace it.

Thank you, Andrea for sharing that. We hear from many people who say that helping others is the best medicine they could take!

Thank you!
Gratitude is such an important part of being happier. It seems the more grateful we are, the happier we become.
