Anyone have experience talking about this?
Has anyone talked about prostate cancer with a guy in their life? Health topics seem so "off limits." Is there a way to bring this up without being totally awkward?
It is to bad we have so many taboos we fear to discuss. Would we hesitate to talk about our finger or toe, then why should we feel unconfortable talking about any other parts of our bodies.
Instead of just randomly bringing up the topic, why don't you try introducing it with something like, "I read an article in the paper today about a new study that came out about prostate cancer. It talked about early detection being pretty important--maybe we should learn a little more about it." See how he responds to something like that first. If he doesn't shut you off, maybe discuss the age when men should start getting tested, and suggest he go for a screening.
Has anyone taken a different approach? How did it work out??
