The Face of Job Loss

If you lost your job a week ago or six months ago, you may still be trying to figure out whether you did something wrong. Unfortunately, one possible factor for your job loss is entirely out of your hands.

Many companies are making cuts based on whomever is the highest paid. That often means that people who are older and may have more experience are first up on the chopping block. This isn’t age discrimination per se, since the companies are really just looking to cut costs, but targeting this bracket of highly paid workers does lead one to think that they’re targeting a specific group of people.

This doesn’t mean you’re helpless. If you feel you’ve lost your job because you’re being wrongfully discriminated against, talk to a lawyer about your possible recourse.
