Phones Don't Do a Body Good

Phones Don't Do a Body Good

Its obvious what cell phones have done for communication—you can talk to your friend in Costa Rica from the comfort of your morning commute, text your pals tonight’s big plans and send a video of your kids’ little league debut to everyone in your address book. But is our love affair with cell phones leading us down a path to future health complications?

Director of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, Dr. Ronald B. Herberman thinks so. He issued a warning to limit your time with your plastic pal due the possibility of consistent use causing brain cancer. The warning came from an unpublished study—which claims this is true especially in children, whose brains are often still developing while they are using their phones.

All cell phones have a specific absorption rate (SAR) value, which measures the rate of radiation exposure. Some phones are better than others, visit http://www.mmfai.org/public/sar.cfm?lang=eng for more info and to find out how you and your families phones fair.

Even though the subject has been down played in the media, are you concerned about how it could affect your health? Do you think we could cut down our usage, or are we in too deep? [MSNBC]
