Everything is relative. What we consider blessed is so opposite the rest of the world. If all of us spent even just 1 day in a 3rd world country where they don't have all the blessings that we have here, I'm sure we would come away from the exper-ience feeling truly blessed. The fact is that we really have no concept of what basic needs really are.
