Everyday Change

Who Cares If It Turns Out Right?

Everyday_change_50x50
Unless you're building a skyscraper or fixing a brain, there's room for error in your work. Sometimes, not forcing greatness/perfection leads to bigger and better ideas. So let go of whether a project is "right," and just let it be what it'll be.

Rely on the Comfort of Others

Grief is an experience that can either overwhelm you or spur you down the road of healing. One of the most helpful tools for healing is the wisdom of others who have already completed their own journey.

Whether through your place of worship, at the office or in a support group, find someone who has made it to the other side and who is willing the share his or her experiences with you. Spend some time talking to this person about his or her first 30 days and beyond. Ask about the most challenging and most surprising aspects of the journey. Your grief will bring many strong, confusing feelings. Talking with someone who has already completed this journey can be a relief.

Don’t forget the power of your faith. You can also speak with a clergy member for advice and guidance through this difficult time. Perhaps you could meditate on your spiritual or religious principles, as relying on faith can be a great comfort during this time.
