Working Out Indoors ... What Do You Do?
Getting outside to exercise can be tough when it's cold, but that does not mean that you have to give up staying fit.
When the chilly weather strikes, consider an indoor group fitness class, like spinning or yoga. The local YMCA often offers low-priced fitness classes, and specialty studios have punch cards that allow you to save money on often high-priced classes, like Pilates
I just took a group yoga class on Sunday, and not only was it a great way to squeeze in a warmer workout, but I worked every muscle in my body!
How do you stay fit in the winter?

It's not nearly as good as working out for real, but I try to add little exercises to my home activities. For instance, if I'm watching TV or talking on the phone, do some leg lifts or lift a weight or two. Sometimes just to get my heart going I'll run in place for 5-10 minutes and do crunches. I think that just as you make a plan to exercise outside, with times and days, schedule fitness time inside or make a calendar for it.
For the past 5 years, I know of no other way to workout indoors. For me money has always been an issue and with small kids, working out at home is the way to go. The trick is to find something that you like, otherwise like that old treadmill in the corner collecting clothes, you will not do it.
