Remember the saying "Slow and steady wins the race?" Turns out it's true. Slow down at work, with your partner and just in general. You may be surprised at how much sweeter life is when you aren't looking at it at warp speed.

Question:What Are Your Thoughts on an MBA?

I’ve been thinking of going back to school for my MBA. I’m really excited about the idea of it; I love school and learning new concepts. However, it’s a HUGE investment. My employer will toss me a little bit of money toward it, but even with that, it’s very expensive. Anyone have any thoughts?

Answer:

I don't have an MBA but it seems to open a lot of doors. A person with an MBA and a technical degree has lots of opportunities in technology companies. Basically, you should understand the 'how' (the technology) and the MBA can understand the 'why'. Someone who knows the 'how and why' would be very useful to have at a company.

Answer:

I think you have to determine what your long-term goals are and whether this degree will get you where you want to go. Do you want to go into business or be eligible for higher positions in the company you're already working for? Then it might be a good investment. If, however, you really want to be a social worker or a journalist, it might not be the right choice for you. Have you thought about your ultimate goal?
