Drop the Baggage

If you’re like most people, the new relationship you’re seeking won’t be your first. And chances are, a relationship—or two or three—from the past may still cause you pain. As you embark on this brand new journey in your life, there is no better time to let go of old baggage. This is about new romance, remember?!?

Perhaps it’s time to call an ex and offer forgiveness, or maybe ask for forgiveness if you think you were in the wrong. Or you may want to make a list of the lessons you’ve learned from the past, refusing to omit the parts that hold you at least partly responsible for what happened. After all, it takes two to create a relationship—and, quite often, it takes two to dissolve it. Journey back into your relationship past just for the sake of learning from it and then using it as you pursue a new relationship.

Figuring out what previously went wrong will make you more perceptive for your future partner. Resolve to avoid making the same mistakes and to prevent old issues from invading a new romance, and you will get off the right foot.
