How to Sell Yourself

Icon_tip_2

Today’s the day to take action. If you plan on using the internet to pursue a new romance, start creating your online profile. Even if you don’t want to use the internet as a mode of finding a new relationship, writing your own “personal ad” of sorts is a good exercise—whether or not anyone else ever sees it. Start thinking, “What makes me unique? What movies do I like? What vacations have been my favorites? Why would I date me?”

As you write your profile, don’t fudge on the facts. Women tend to misrepresent their age and weight, and men tend to misrepresent height and income. If you describe yourself as someone you’re not, you risk sabotaging a new relationship: the date who is going to be sitting across from you is going to feel disappointed, ripped off and may find you untrustworthy from the get-go. Not a good start to a first date!

Write a profile, make it truthful and, hopefully, get to know yourself in a brand-new light.
