Writers Wanted-No Experience Necessary

You can’t take it anymore. Anger, pain, frustration, humiliation, guilt, shame. It’s all coming at once. You can’t see straight. Your head is spinning—must… find…

Ahh, there’s my journal. Hey, so listen to this one.

Psychologists agree that when you’re down and out, writing can be a tremendous release. Putting your thoughts on paper allows you to process those thoughts and feelings safely and start to work them through. You’ll feel better almost immediately, no matter how well you can actually write.

If you think it’s a bunch of malarkey, check this out. In a study at King’s College in London, researchers created a small skin puncture in the upper arms of participants. Half were asked to write about an upsetting experience, while the other half wrote about everyday happenings. Two weeks later, guess who was healing more quickly? The group who wrote about their feelings.

Kinda makes you want to start writing furiously, doesn’t it?
