Question:When to go out and buy a home....

I am newly married without any kids or any plans for kids. Just the wife and the dogs for a while. We have talked about buying a home for the last year or so.

What I am wondering is if my intuition is correct to wait on the market to start to make its upswing before making our purchase? I'm told this could be a couple of years no matter what Bill they pass?

I have no problem waiting a couple of years if it is the smart thing to do but am getting sick and tired of burning my money on rent.

Answer:

I think it depends on where you live too. Even with the bad economy, there are still deals to be had where you won't get screwed. Also, just be smart about looking into fixed mortgage plans and all that. Regardless, take a good hard look at how much job security you have...could be better to "prepare for the worst" at least in the shortwhile.
