7 Apps that Can Help You Get in Shape

RobertCordrayIt’s easier than ever to get in shape with the incredible selection of fitness apps that have been developed to help you incorporate the right exercise regimen into your daily routine.

Here are seven exercise apps that will give you all the guidance you need to reach your goals:

Nu Skin TR90

The Nu Skin TR90 app, previously available exclusively online, can now be downloaded to iPhone, iPad, and Android devices. TR90, which stands for Transform in 90, is a versatile free app that tracks all the variables that help you lose weight successfully, including exercise, food consumption, and product use. A plethora of other helpful features motivate and inspire you while keeping close tabs on your progress.

Endomondo Sports Tracker

If you’re into running, cycling, or another similar sport and you enjoy being cheered on (and held accountable) by your friends, Endomondo lets you use your social media community to meet your fitness goals. The app, available online and on a variety of digital devices, lets you share your progress by posting updates to your social networks. Available in both free and pro versions, the app also incorporates a number of other dietary and fitness-enhancing features.

Pact

Offering a slightly new twist on fitness motivation, Pact lets you reap monetary rewards for meeting your health and fitness goals — or makes you pay up if you don’t. It’s a different take on accountability that has the members who don’t meet their weekly fitness goals paying those who do. You decide whether and how much you’ll pledge if you don’t manage to meet your target. This free app is available for iPhone and Android.

Fitocracy

A fitness social network that combines a video-game-like points system and leveling-up concept with morale-boosting support from the rest of the community, Fitocracy is free for iPhone and Android and is also on the Web. With a focus on weightlifting, the app also helps you track weight loss and other exercise goals. Fitocracy also offers online coach-led fitness groups that provide a dietary and fitness program that’s tailored to your goals.

Lose It!

Available on Android, iOS, Nook, Kindle, and the Web, Lose It! logs your daily food and activity to help you achieve the right balance between calories consumed and calories expended through exercise to meet your weight-loss goals. This free app and website offers a database containing thousands of foods and allows you to add your own personal favorite commercial foods by scanning their barcodes using your smartphone’s camera.

RunKeeper

This free mobile app lets you use your Android or iPhone’s GPS capability to track your progress while running, walking, or cycling. The app also offers an optional audio feature that enhances your experience by providing spoken updates on all the key stats you typically track to measure your fitness level.

MyFitnessPal

Offering the largest nutrition and calorie database in the world, containing more than 4 million foods and growing, MyFitnessPal is a free website and mobile app for iPhone and Android. Flexible enough to support your favorite weight-loss diet, this free app and free membership offers your own personalized diet profile and preferred foods database and helps you track physical activity and food intake.

Once you’ve found the exercise app that’s right for you, the sky’s the limit on what these digital programs can help you accomplish.
