Only in New York!

On Wednesday, the First30Days team had a group lunch and on our way back to the office, we bumped into New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg outside our building…a fellow change optimist. He’s made some good changes here in NYC and we were happy to see him.

An hour later, while having a meeting with our friends at Good Housekeeping magazine, I saw Oprah a few feet away. Another change optimist! She’s been very kind to us here at First30Days by doing a big feature article on us in O Magazine when we were just getting started. It helped introduce the company to her readers and focused on the first 30 days of living healthier. The article showcased interviews with 8 top health experts, including Gregory Joujon-Roche, who we recently interviewed on Change Nation, and Andrew Weil, M.D., the pioneer of integrative medicine. On top of this, a few weeks ago I was invited to be on Gayle King’s radio show on the Oprah and Friends network on XM Satellite Radio. So, in the spirit of optimism, I’m guessing that a TV show is in our future. We love all the examples and inspiration that Oprah provides of all types of people both making and facing tough changes.

Finally, I was wathching the Christmas tree lighting at Rockefeller Center the other night on NBC, and I saw Jane Krakowski from the hit show “30 Rock” (notice the number 30…our lucky number!) hosting with Al Roker. Jane lives a floor above me in Manhattan and is probably the nicest celebrity you will ever meet. She never misses a chance to say hello and smile.

Thanks to you, our faithful members, First30Days is making some waves…and bumping into some interesting people.
