Momma Needs a Trip to the Salon...

Momma Needs a Trip to the Salon...

Hair coloring while pregnant is an iffy subject. Some women are completely against it, and can survive nine months without treating their hair, but if you're like us, waddling into a salon and spoiling yourself with a nice cut and color when you're feeling like a beached whale can be a blessing.

During the first trimester you're better off avoiding any coloring of your locks, but after that it's up to you! Studies show a small amount of dye goes to your scalp during a treatment, but scientists are unsure whether this affects the fetus. There are safe ammonia-free dyes available if you feel extra nervous. There are also hemp dyes that are safe.

Sometimes, you need to papmer yourself during pregnancy! Ask your doctor if you're unsure. We know most doctors are OK with women making salon visits as long as there is plenty of adequate ventilation in the room. And if you're still nervous, let your hair go natural and spend the money on a soothing prenatal massage instead!
