In a Pickle

May is National Pickle Month! Why should pregnant women care? Because Vlasic, maker of the tasty treat, is capitalizing on the conventional wisdom that pregnancy and pickles go hand in hand by offering a $20,000 savings bond to one family who has the good fortune to deliver a baby in May. The child will also be named the Vlasic Stork Baby and receive a year’s supply of pickles (a little too late on that last prize, if you ask us).

Additionally, the company promises an extra $5,000 to any family willing to give their child the middle name “Crunch.” Seriously. Crunch. Entrants are to email a photo with their child’s name, birth date, height, gender, weight and a statement of no more than 100 words on why their child should receive this incredible honor.

We know the cost of college tuition is high, but $25,000 hardly seems enough of a price to pay for family dignity. Would you jump through these hoops just for the money? [Vlasic.com]
