Planning on breastfeeding your baby? If the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals had their way, it wouldn’t be just your baby reaping the rewards of mother's milk.
The organization wants Ben & Jerry's to use milk from nursing moms, rather than cows, for their famous line of ice creams, saying it would reduce the suffering of cows and calves and give ice cream lovers a healthier product.
“We’re aware this idea is somewhat absurd, and that putting it into practice is a stretch. At the time same, it's pretty absurd for us to be drinking the milk of cows,” said Ashley Byrne, a campaign coordinator for PETA.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Ben & Jerry's—and its customers—aren’t on board with this plan. Hey, even the La Leche League International, the world's oldest breast-feeding support organization, thinks it’s pretty ridiculous.
What do you think? Would you eat ice cream made from breast milk? And, would someone PLEASE tell us what Ben and Jerry's would name such an ice cream? Sound off below!
