Fighting Fear

Icon_tip_5

Happiness can be scary! Fear happens, even when you're pursuing happier living. Just look at all those people who are happy reading a book, vacationing at Walt Disney World, playing sports or participating in sing alongs in polyester clothing in the 1970s.

We're being cheeky, but in fact you might be anxious or afraid about being happier. You're leaving your relative comfort zone of unhappiness and doing new things—what if you fail at being happy?

Every time you feel fear creeping up on you, ask yourself what the real risks of the situation are. Then ask yourself if you can afford not continuing your pursuit of happiness; remember, you are choosing to become happier! Fear is simply not a good enough reason to prevent you from becoming happier. If you're feeling scared, here is a happiness tip: take a few deep breaths and try to think logically about the situation. Imagine a positive outcome to the situation rather than any possible negatives. The more you tackle your fears calmly, the happier you’ll be.
