Happiness is without a doubt an important element to life, and one school administration in England is making it an essential part of its curriculum.
The Birmingham City Council will tell 440 of its schools to make the students mental well-being as much a priority in the classroom as traditional subjects. The school plans on doing this by dedicating some time in the school day for kids to vent their feelings. Les Lawrence, the cabinet member who oversees children’s services in the school district, told The Independent "It's not just about happiness for the sake of it. We all perform better when we're smiling.”
Will the children of Birmingham grow up to be happier people? Only time will tell. But one thing is for sure—making an effort to be happier every day can only result in true happiness.
