Mommy and Me! Me! Time
Finally, the news that all firstborn children have been waiting for: mom and dad really do like their first ones the best! As a new mom, you probably can’t imagine that you’ll ever want to spend less time with a second or third child—if you have more than that, you’ll just have to be cloned—but multiple kids can put a demand on your time.
The reality, according to a study from Brigham Young University, is that the first baby always gets the lion’s share. Parents spend an extra 20-25 minutes of “quality time” a day with their firstborn children. Quality time is defined as engaging in activities like homework, reading, sports or meals. Parents seemed to spend more time watching TV with their later-born kids, but somehow researchers didn’t see that as quality time. Don’t worry. We know you don’t have a favorite…and even if you do, we’ll never tell!
