Google Heals the Sick

Google Heals the Sick

When you're a new parent, looking up symptoms for some illnesses can lead to mini heart attacks at your desk. Who knew headaches could be the cause of brain tumors and a simple cold could land you in the ER? But when Dominique Fisher's daughter Danielle became ill, looking up her symptoms on the internet saved her life.

After six months of symptoms like vertigo, fatigue, horrible headaches and shortness of breath, Danielle was given several false diagnoses of Meningitis and Epstein-Bar virus, among others. It was only after Danielle's mother preformed some diligent online research that she found the symptoms matched up with that of Lyme disease. Danielle is now being treated for antibiotics, but because of the late diagnosis it could be a bit of an uphill battle.

We wanted to share this article because lyme disease is becoming more and more common. If you live in a heavily wooded area, always check for ticks! If you feel like you're experiencing any of the symptoms, immediately let your doctor know—Lyme disease is often misdiagnosed as other ailments, but early treatment can be quite successful!
