Get Up and Dance!

Want to change the world? Maybe it's time to start dancing.

This video is such a simple example of the joys of being part of the human race. Made by a guy named Matt, it reminds me that if we pursue our passions and dreams, change (and fun) will follow. Matt is a genuine change agent. By simply showing up around the world, doing a silly little dance, and encouraging others to dance with him, he changes the dynamic of a place and unites people despite differences in language, race, creed, religion and any other thing that might be recognized as a divide.

Through this simple act, I've been reminded that:
Change will come when we remember we are all connected.
Change will come when we look for what is the same in each other, as opposed to focusing on how we are different.
Change will come when we get back into our bodies and out of our heads or our tired minds.
Change will come when we smile. Get that joy flowing, and remember the reasons we have to be happy.
Change will come when we choose to see ourselves reflected in another's eyes, and embrace the acceptance there.

Change happens when one person makes a decision to start being happier—whether you follow Matt's example and start dancing more, start smiling more or just commit to being an example of positive energy and light for others. Leave a comment below—let me know where you're finding joy, and how you're putting it out into the world!

Ah-h-h yes, where do I find joy!

Here are some of the times I have felt deep joy...

In the middle of Bellevue, having a rainbow come down the road & encompass me -- to see the colors pass over my hands & arms, my face (in a mirror), & then move on. Pure rapture!!!!

Watching a pair of Mallard ducks incubate eggs on their nest (in a culvert at the
side of the same road) then see them AND their ducklings cross over & go into the Seattle Slough safely. Joy! Pure joy!

To witness & recognize the mating ritual of 3 pairs of bald eagles, all at the same time, high above this same road. How incredibly uplifting!

Being the birthcoach at the birth of my first grandchild, Savannah! Being filled with love to overflowing. Love flowing out to this new, little being! Awesome.

Listening to beautiful music of all kinds. Uplifting.

How am I putting it (joy) out there?

Sitting quitely, listening to someone who "just needs to talk." (They usually decide the best way to handle their situation, without imput from me.) Soft, quiet joy.

Being the conduit for someone
who requests healing energy, with the understanding that
healing is between them & their Higher Power. Peaceful.

Sitting, quietly listening to the wisdom of the universe.
Recognizing & taking it into my being -- finding that wisdom coming through me to another who needs to hear it.

Doing what I came here to do!

Peace & Joy to all of you!!

Even though the music on this video could use some work :) the idea behind it is so great! Even if we don't always feel like dancing we can connect with people right where we are by offering a smile, a hand, a laugh.

Yes!
"Dancing is my life", said my 6 year old, way too many years ago. I was glad because I knew that she had learned that from me. There was a period of many years when I thought I wouldn't be able to dance because I had polio as a child. But lo! the age of letting go of your partner and "doing your own thing" saved me. And rock and roll let me dance free. Speaking of free, you don't even need any props or expensive equipment. Our culture loves dance but not in an everyday, do-it-yourself, kind of way. But my girlfriends do--and I'm here to tell you that when you close those window shades, turn up the music and give yourself over to it, you get high, high, high--and that's a way to transcend into the Spirit we all want to dwell in.
