disappointing
i am in recovery from addiction 18yrs now. i find joy in helping others. recently i had surgery to my left knee, so i was laid up for a couple of days. my son of 18 yrs was supposed to bring me there and then home. well he at the last minute had to work. i had to scramble to find someone else to bring me which i did. the friend who took me i've only know for a few months, thank god for him. what bothers me is that everyone i have been helping over the years had very poor excuses why they couldn't take me and not even come by my house to help out or even to visit. i was on my own for 2 days. how sad is that. where is the loyalty? i don't have too many expectations of people in general, but that was ridiculous. i hope i can stay healthy. charlie

Hi Charlie. Thanks for being honest with how you feel. Thats always the first step through change. Feel sad, feel disappointed and then see if you can move towards accepting what happened.
Here's what i know for sure-
-dont take any of this personally. We are all too busy, too worried, in too much of a hurry to get somewhere that often we forget what's important and what matters most. Just as your friends did that day. I am sure you have at some time in your life also done that with others. I know i have and didnt realize at the time how important it was. And yet, my friends forgave me.
-"be kind, for everyone is figthing a hard battle" a great quote from Plato. You dont know whats going on with others. Just forgive them. Its their stuff, not yours.
Now, even more important is your last line- "i hope i can stay healthy'. Your body is always eavesdropping on what you are telling it, so you need to really careful with that kind of language... hold a clear intention that your body is a healing machine. Of course you are going to remain in great health. Take care of yourself. First30Days can be a place for you to also heal...the living healthier content is some of the best on the site.
Be well, Ariane
