Multigenerational Living

My significant other and I are purchasing a large ranch style home (full finished basement) with my Daughters family. They live down stairs, we live upstairs. The design of our upstairs area is what has created some issues as there is no privacy for my significant other and I except in our bedroom and remodeling is out of the question due to finances at this time. In order to keep this short, I am interested in any material others can guide me to or advice from others in a similiar living situation. Maybe one of the design shows would take us on, HA! HA!
