My mom's illness...my wake-up call

My mother, who has been healthy all of her life, was recently diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma. I thought she was invincible...and that I was too. The sudden realization that even she could get cancer hit me like a ton of bricks. I made an appointment to get a physical...and as soon as I can afford it, I'm going to start taking Chantix, so I can quit smoking. My cholesterol level came back elevated, so now I'm looking at making some changes to my diet. Between taking my mom to appointments and chemo, the last thing I needed was more 'changes'...but if I want to live a long healthier life, I need to start now making those changes.
